This volume of essays celebrates the work of Dr Norma Grieve on the occasion of her retirement from her position of Reader in Psychology at The University of Melbourne, where she worked from 1956 until 1990. The collection presents a wide range of issues within gender studies, an area which she fostered through its marginal, tenuous phase to its current accepted place in the academy. The co-editors lecture at the University: Patricia Grimshaw in the History Department, Ruth Fincher in the Geography Department and Marion Campbell in English. They have worked together for some years with Norma Grieve in the Committee for Gender Studies.
